All aboard.

We are the Student Transport Riders Association, the student-run advocacy group for young people in Victoria using public transport.

Our Vision

We want to reduce emissions in the only sector in Australia that is currently growing its carbon output -- transport. How? by improving students' access to public transport, young people can lead the way to a carbon free future.
Our FAST Four Step Plan: The four factors we've identified as the biggest barrier to students' usage of sustainable transport

Fares

We need a simpler, cheaper fare system so that you don't have to choose between lunch and transport.

Accessibility

Sustainable transport is for everyone, no education institution should go without accessible public transport.

Sustainability

The carbon cost of manufacturing and maintaining combustion and battery electric motor vehicles is too high, to achieve sustainability goals we must prioritise active and public transport.

Time

You deserve the freedom to study, work, and play whenever and wherever you want, it's imperative that fast and frequent transport operates throughout the day (and night) to get you where you need to go.

The STRA operates on the Country of the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung and Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin nation and pays respect to First Peoples throughout the land we call Victoria and Australia. We acknowledge the unique impact of transport infrastructure on the native environment. Sovereignty was never ceded, this always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
